Aston Martin is reconsidering its aggressive seat reclination after Fernando Alonso’s Canadian Grand Prix retirement. Alonso pulled out on lap 24, citing increasing discomfort from his driving position. Chief trackside officer Mike Krack confirmed the team pushed a new, more reclined stance this year. This design choice aimed to lower the car's center of gravity and reduce aerodynamic impact from the driver's helmet.
However, it’s left Alonso with painful pressure points that worsen over a race stint. The team made minor adjustments, but Krack admitted they might have gone "a step too far." Alonso reportedly felt uncomfortable for a while, but the reliable car now runs long enough for the issue to become a "show-stopper." Aston Martin will likely revert to a less extreme position for upcoming races, with a new seat expected for Monaco.
