Honda reports significant progress in resolving the severe power unit vibration issues that plagued Aston Martin in early races. Previously, the problem was so acute it risked nerve damage for drivers, forcing lap limitations and compounding a critical shortage of working batteries in Melbourne. Aston Martin only had two functional power unit batteries for both Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll at the Australian Grand Prix.
Despite these challenges, Honda's countermeasures proved effective. Lance Stroll completed 43 laps, just 15 shy of a full race distance, with Fernando Alonso running 21 before his retirement. Honda's trackside general manager, Shintaro Orihara, confirmed a "significant improvement" compared to Bahrain. Data now shows decreasing battery vibrations, giving Honda confidence they are "on track to complete a full race distance." This trajectory is vital for data gathering as the season progresses.
