Racing Bulls received a €30,000 fine, with two-thirds suspended, after stewards found a critical fault on Liam Lawson's car during Canadian Grand Prix practice. Lawson’s car came to a halt when its Clutch Disengagement System (CDS) failed to activate, preventing marshals from moving it and forcing a red flag. This failure was deemed "serious" by stewards, noting a ruptured joint caused a hydraulic leak.

Crucially, the FIA Technical Delegate had already warned RB last year about their CDS design, which also plays a role in the anti-stall system. Lawson also reported marshals attempting to push his car and one trying to use a camera button instead of the actual CDS. This incident highlights ongoing safety concerns with car recovery and the need for better marshal training, a point the stewards explicitly raised. RB now faces scrutiny over their engineering choices, which could impact future design approvals if unaddressed.
