Juan Pablo Montoya believes Red Bull is on the brink of a major resurgence, warning rivals the team is "for sure coming" back. Following a tense Canadian Grand Prix where Max Verstappen battled for a podium spot, Montoya pointed to Red Bull shedding excess car weight, targeting the Austrian Grand Prix as a key milestone for reaching optimal weight. He noted Canada’s significant penalty for overweight cars, suggesting their strong performance there despite the disadvantage bodes well. Both cars showed impressive pace on first laps after pitstops, and Verstappen's defensive driving highlighted their capabilities.

However, Jacques Villeneuve offers a colder take. The 1997 F1 champion argues Montreal's unusually cold conditions may have flattered Red Bull's pace. He suggested the cooler temperatures and the car's stiffness, which reportedly softened for the race, could have masked underlying issues. The true test, Villeneuve says, will come when F1 returns to warmer tracks, where Red Bull's performance in standard conditions will reveal if their Canadian form was an anomaly or a genuine step forward. The Austrian GP will be critical in validating Montoya’s optimistic outlook.
