Racing Bulls incurred a €30,000 fine from the FIA after Liam Lawson's car failed to disengage its clutch during Canadian GP practice, forcing a red flag. Lawson's VCARB 03 suffered a hydraulic leak, bringing it to a halt. Crucially, its Clutch Disengagement System (CDS) – a mandatory safety feature designed to allow marshals to move a car even if primary systems fail – did not activate. This meant marshals couldn't clear the car under a Virtual Safety Car, disrupting the session.

Stewards deemed it a "serious matter," especially since the FIA technical delegate had previously warned Racing Bulls in 2023 about their unique CDS design, which also integrates with the car's anti-stall system. This dual-purpose setup, while efficient, introduced a critical vulnerability that manifested in Canada. With €20,000 of the fine suspended for 12 months, Racing Bulls faces pressure to either redesign this deeply integrated system or risk further penalties if it fails again.
