2026 DRIVERS

Founded in 2016 by Gene Haas — the man behind Haas Automation CNC machines and co-owner of the Stewart-Haas NASCAR operation. Haas F1 was the only American-owned team on the F1 grid for nearly a decade, headquartered in Kannapolis, NC. A bootstrapped underdog that has quietly racked up points, podium hunts, and the admiration of American fans who finally had a team to call their own.

2026 DRIVERS

Cadillac's arrival in 2026 is the culmination of years of regulatory battles — GM and Andretti fought hard for a grid slot and finally got it. The biggest American automotive name in F1 since, well, ever. Based in Indianapolis, the spiritual home of American open-wheel racing. Cadillac doesn't just bring a badge — it brings a century of motorsport heritage and the full weight of General Motors behind it.

THREE US GRANDS PRIX

In 2026, Formula 1 visits American soil three times. Miami in May, Austin in October, Las Vegas in November. No other country on the F1 calendar hosts more races.

ROUND 4 · 2026-05-03
Miami Grand Prix
COMPLETED
Miami, US

The Miami International Autodrome winds through the Hard Rock Stadium complex in Miami Gardens. A street-style circuit built for spectacle — wide runoffs, a marina section, and some of the loudest atmospheres on the F1 calendar.

ROUND 17 · 2026-10-25
United States Grand Prix
UPCOMING
Austin, US

Circuit of the Americas is the benchmark for purpose-built US race tracks — undulating terrain, a proper Turn 1 uphill braking zone, and the Maggotts-Becketts-inspired sector 2. The best race track in America.

ROUND 20 · 2026-11-22
Las Vegas Grand Prix
UPCOMING
Las Vegas, US

The Las Vegas Strip Circuit wraps around the most famous stretch of road on earth. A late-night Saturday race (1am ET) under full casino illumination, with the longest straight in modern F1. Pure spectacle.

THE LONG ROAD

AMERICAN F1 HISTORY

From Phil Hill's 1961 championship to Andretti's 1978 title — and then 48 years of waiting. Here's how American F1 got to where it is today.

1961
PHIL HILL WINS THE TITLE

Phil Hill becomes the first American Formula 1 World Champion, driving for Ferrari. He wins the title at the finale in Monza — though the race is overshadowed by the death of teammate Wolfgang von Trips. Hill's championship remains one of the most bittersweet in F1 history.

1978
MARIO ANDRETTI — THE LAST AMERICAN CHAMPION

Mario Andretti clinches the World Drivers' Championship for Lotus, winning six races on his way to the title. 48 years later, no American has matched it. Andretti remains one of the greatest racing drivers of any era — the only man to win the Indy 500, Daytona 500, and F1 World Championship.

2012
THE US GRAND PRIX RETURNS TO AUSTIN

After a long gap without a permanent US race on the calendar, the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas hosts the United States Grand Prix for the first time. COTA becomes the anchor of American F1 — a world-class purpose-built circuit that finally gives the US the race it deserves.

2016
HAAS ENTERS THE GRID

Gene Haas launches Haas F1 Team, the first American constructor to race in Formula 1 since 1986. Romain Grosjean scores points on debut in Australia. The American angle on F1 has a team to root for.

2026
CADILLAC JOINS — TWO AMERICAN TEAMS

General Motors' Cadillac brand earns its place on the 2026 grid, making this the first season in F1 history with two American constructors racing simultaneously. The American F1 revival is no longer a footnote — it's a headline.
