Lando Norris answered Montreal with a hammer blow at the Red Bull Ring, claiming pole for the Austrian Grand Prix by a thumping 0.521 seconds over Charles Leclerc. Oscar Piastri, who leads Norris by 22 points after their Canada collision, never got to launch his final Q3 lap — Pierre Gasly spun at the last corner, the yellows came out, and Piastri had to settle for third.

"Nice to see the old me back every now and then," Norris said over the radio. He'll need that version on Sunday, because Piastri made clear he isn't planning to finish third.

Ferrari's upgraded floor looks real: Leclerc grabbed his best qualifying since Monaco, Lewis Hamilton slotted fourth. Max Verstappen, also burned by Gasly's yellows, starts seventh. With Silverstone next, this is Norris's chance to swing the title math before the season's midpoint.
