Haas's 2026 season started with promise—Oliver Bearman took seventh in Bahrain and a brilliant fifth in Shanghai, lifting the American squad to fourth in the standings ahead of Red Bull. That peak didn't last. Development stalled, the VF-26 slid backward, and by mid-season Haas was scrapping in Q1 most weekends.

Through it all, Bearman kept his edge over Esteban Ocon. The second-year driver narrowly out-scored his more experienced teammate in 2025 and carried that form into 2026, even as Ocon hit a string of unlucky breaks that sparked paddock chatter about his future. Team principal Ayao Komatsu shut that down hard.
