Leclerc dropped the hammer on Ferrari's strategy department after a botched tyre call at Sepang sent him and teammate Lewis Hamilton tumbling through the field. The Scuderia rolled the dice on slicks in mixed conditions while Red Bull put both cars on intermediates — Verstappen and Hadjar. Leclerc plunged from fourth to dead last by the end of lap one, Hamilton from second to fifteenth. The Ferrari duo clawed back to third and fourth, but only after Russell's power unit let go with five to run.
"There's one team in particular — and that is Red Bull — that gets it right most of the time with both cars," Leclerc said. "For that we need to understand what they are doing better than we do." Red Bull's Hannah Schmitz continues to run circles around the paddock, nailing split-second calls that Ferrari still gets wrong. Verstappen took his seventy-second win. Ferrari left points on the table they can't afford to lose, especially with Hamilton in the garage now and the American races looming.
