Formula 1 returns to the unique Red Bull Ring for the Austrian Grand Prix this weekend. The circuit, once known as the Österreichring and A1-Ring, has been under Red Bull ownership since 2004, becoming a home track where Max Verstappen boasts five victories. Despite its short 4.326km length, the track is challenging, featuring uphill power sections to Turn 3, followed by a downhill "toboggan ride" through quick corners. Drivers must manage the undulating terrain and abrasive kerbs, particularly tricky in the downhill braking zone for Turn 4.

This season introduces new technical elements like Straight Mode and Overtake Mode. Straight Mode, replacing DRS, sees both front and rear wings adjust for drag reduction across four zones on the circuit. Overtake Mode offers an electrical power boost, detected before Turn 10 for activation on the start/finish straight if within one second of a rival. This fast, flowing track offers ample overtaking opportunities. Expect a high-octane battle, with strategic use of these new modes potentially shaking up the order at Red Bull's home ground.
