Esteban Ocon pulled a textbook opportunistic move at Zandvoort—and watched it evaporate on a technicality. The Haas driver jumped Alex Albon at the end of the yellow-flag zone on lap one, moments after Max Verstappen's crash, grabbing 13th as green flags waved. Albon raged on the radio, calling the pass "crazy." But when the red flag fell, race control reset the grid using the lap-one classification at the start/finish line, erasing Ocon's hard-won position.
"It's a very old-school rule," Ocon said, arguing that modern timing loops should allow a more accurate restart order. He'd risked a penalty threading the needle between yellow and green, only to see the rulebook put Albon back in front. Stuck behind the Williams until an early pit stop, Ocon's race ended on lap 53 with a power unit failure. For Haas, it was another case of doing the racing right and getting nothing for it.
