Guenther Steiner torched Ferrari's decision-making culture after the Scuderia's disastrous Bahrain Grand Prix tyre call left Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc scrambling from the back. Speaking on The Red Flags Podcast, Steiner zeroed in on Ferrari's refusal to pivot when its soft-slick gamble cratered in the wet — a contrast to McLaren, which immediately bailed Oscar Piastri out of a similar mistake with an early stop for intermediates.
"At McLaren, it's like, 'OK, I think we made the wrong decision, let's fix it,'" Steiner said. "At Ferrari, it's, 'No, we need to show that we made the right decision, even if it's wrong, because we cannot admit that we made the wrong decision.'"
Hamilton clawed back to third after dropping over a minute, but the seven-time champion didn't hide his frustration. He admitted his heart sank when he saw the intermediates come off the car ahead while Ferrari kept him out on slicks. The recovery salvaged points, but Steiner's read is clear: Ferrari's pride is costing it wins.
