Audi's debut as a works F1 team is tracking to plan at the summer break — eighth in the Constructors' with 12 points and signs of life after a mid-season drought. The former Sauber squad opened strong in Australia, then went six races without scoring before upgrades delivered three consecutive points finishes at Silverstone, Spa, and Hungary.

The surprise: rookie Gabriel Bortoleto holds 10 of those 12 points and leads veteran Nico Hulkenberg 7-4 in race head-to-head. The 21-year-old Brazilian notched P8 at both Silverstone and Spa, the latter in front of 500 Audi employees who made the trip. Hulkenberg finally broke through with P9 in Hungary after a reliability-cursed stretch that included a Barcelona DNF when gravel struck his kill switch.

Racing Director Allan McNish called the momentum "positive." Mattia Binotto has framed 2026 and 2027 as foundation years, especially with a new power unit in the mix. The rookie is delivering ahead of schedule.
