Williams' 2026 season has collapsed. After finishing fifth in the constructors' standings last year, the Grove squad entered with genuine ambition, then missed the Barcelona Shakedown and rolled out an overweight car plagued by technical gremlins. Result: 11 points through the summer break, with neither Albon nor Sainz reaching Q3 once. Their best finish is Albon's eighth in Monaco. Their only double points haul came in Miami, where an upgrade package promised more than it delivered. Japan devolved into a test session with Albon making five consecutive pit stops. In Hungary, both drivers were eliminated in Q1 and only lapped quicker than Cadillac. An upgrade is slated for Baku in late September, but Team Principal James Vowles has already shifted resources to 2027, admitting this year is about "getting some of the basics right." Sainz has hinted his future hinges on how fast they recover. Albon just logged his 100th start with the team—loyalty has limits when you're running 9th.
