Cadillac is building its F1 operation on the fly — literally constructing a 450,000-square-foot factory in Fishers, Indiana, while chasing its first points on track. Team principal Graeme Lowdon keeps hard hats and steel-toe boots next to his desk as construction crews work across three sites: the sprawling Indianapolis hub, a smaller Silverstone expansion, and a power unit facility in Charlotte.

The Fishers plant will come online in phases starting next year, with the simulator already being installed. For now, Cadillac operates from Silverstone while using GM facilities in North Carolina and Michigan and Toyota's Cologne wind tunnel. The team is still hiring aggressively and learning in "big chunks," Lowdon says, far from the incremental refinement mode established teams enjoy.

The urgency is real — Cadillac hasn't reached Q2 yet this season. But the infrastructure play signals long-term commitment, anchoring America's F1 team in the sport's heartland just miles from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
