Verstappen grabbed pole in Singapore, but only because Ferrari's drivers let him. Red Bull finally has a car that works at Marina Bay, the only regular circuit where Verstappen had never won or taken pole. Problem is, it still wasn't the quickest car in Q3.

Charles Leclerc fought braking gremlins all session, losing confidence and bleeding time at Turn 13 and the Turn 16-17 chicane — too conservative on entry, undercooked on exit. Lewis Hamilton looked electric through Q1 and Q2, but a small wing adjustment made the Ferrari snappy in Q3. His theoretical best lap, combining his quickest sectors, would've beaten Verstappen by 0.026s. Instead he slid through the opening corners on his first run and got scrappy through the final sector on his second.

Verstappen, strong through the faster corners but weaker in the middle sector's 90-degree turns, didn't need perfection. He just needed to not mess up while Ferrari did. Mission accomplished.
