Girls Across the Grid is tackling a core issue for female Formula 1 fans: finding community and a sense of belonging. What started as a small group chat in 2022, born from a Mexico Grand Prix watch party, has exploded into a global network of over 20,000 members. Founder Corryn Banham recognized the struggle women faced attending races alone or feeling isolated within the sport.
The organization has evolved from simple race-watching into a vital support system, fostering deep friendships and ensuring new fans feel welcome. Members use dedicated chats to coordinate travel and accommodation for race weekends, making it easier for solo attendees to connect. Events like "Silvegas" and activations at the British Grand Prix, including a collaboration with F1 Academy, highlight their growing impact. While F1's reach to women has expanded, GATG directly addresses lingering stereotypes and ensures new fans find their place, proving that racing is always better with friends. This movement will only continue to strengthen the female fanbase.
