Norris threw away a strong result in Malaysia with a Safety Car disaster. Already sliding from fifth after gambling wrong on medium tyres in mixed conditions, he took the knockout blow during a late caution when George Russell stopped on the main straight. The pack bunched, Norris misjudged the closure, and plowed into the gravel. P11 in seconds. "I swore a lot," he said afterward. He couldn't read how hard the cars ahead had braked, got it wrong, and paid.
Stewards handed him a reprimand for erratic driving under yellow. Norris owned both errors: wrong rubber at the start, wrong position when the field stacked. He clawed back to ninth; Piastri salvaged sixth. McLaren can't afford many more days like this—compounding mistakes turn podium cars into mid-pack results.
