McLaren brought a new front wing concept to Brazil that's less about raw downforce and more about making the MCL40 behave. Andrea Stella says the upgrade — part of a package that also included rear wing, beam wing, and floor furniture — is designed to improve driveability and predictability, a shift from the team's usual load-chasing approach. Early data from practice sessions suggests it's working.
The front wing is a precursor to next year's car, and Stella confirmed more updates are coming to Vegas in two weeks. But the team principal tempered expectations for race day, admitting Mercedes looked a step quicker in dry running despite the upgrades. Lando Norris took pole in the wet, but if conditions dry out, that pace gap becomes the problem.
The bet is that driveability compounds — the Vegas updates should mesh with the new wing, and the whole concept carries into 2027. McLaren is banking on process over one weekend's result, even if that means conceding ground at Interlagos.
