McLaren brings its rotating rear wing to Monza this weekend, calling it the H-Wing after the Etihad logo's H that sits where the actuator lives. It's McLaren's answer to Ferrari's Macarena wing—same concept, flips 180 degrees between corner mode and straight mode to kill drag on the straights. The team tested prototypes in Austria (garage issue) and Hungary (successful FP1 run), then waited for a low-drag circuit where the tech pays off. Monza is that circuit. Technical director Neil Houldey says the H-Wing is part of a low-drag package they'll evaluate before qualifying, adding that more performance sits locked in the MCL40 through setup work and upgrades coming later. The name follows the F-duct tradition from 2010, named after the Vodafone F on the nose. Both cars run it in Italy. If the H-Wing delivers at Monza and the high-speed tracks ahead, McLaren extends its aero edge in a title fight tightening every race.
