F1 will limit car top speeds at the Monaco Grand Prix, imposing energy deployment restrictions to prevent cars from becoming too fast for the street circuit. Monaco’s unique layout – short straights and heavy braking – allows for ample energy harvesting, creating a potential for dangerously high speeds on entry to its tight corners. To counter this, the FIA mandates a special 'Rev 1' engine mode.

This mode forces the MGU-K's maximum 350kW deployment to start tapering off from 200km/h, much lower than the standard 290km/h. All battery deployment will cease by 300km/h. Overtake mode offers a slight reprieve, but still cuts power by 310km/h. Drivers, including Haas's Ollie Bearman, welcome the change, expecting a more "natural" driving experience. Bearman suggests it will be "more fun to drive," allowing them to avoid excessive lift-and-coast and focus on pure skill. This regulation might make Monaco a purer test of driver ability than initially feared for the new generation of cars.
