Cadillac's Dutch Grand Prix delivered the familiar result—zero points—but Sergio Perez found reasons for optimism in P15. The American outfit tweaked parts and setup through the Zandvoort weekend, and Perez said the pace "was very strong" once clear of traffic. The gap to the midfield? Still half a second to a full second, which is a canyon in F1 terms, but progress is progress when starting from the grid's back.
Valtteri Bottas wasn't as lucky. A hydraulic failure ended his race with 11 laps to go, his sixth DNF in 12 starts. He reported the car went "really inconsistent" in the second stint before the issue forced him out. Cadillac now trails Aston Martin after Fernando Alonso grabbed two points.
The American team heads to Monza still winless but armed with data. If the pace Perez felt translates to qualifying position, that first point might not be far off.
