RB believes it has found a clear direction for its car development after encountering significant problems with new parts at the Spanish Grand Prix. Daniel Ricciardo confirmed the team is done experimenting, with both cars now running a "half, straight down the middle, new and old" package. The upgrade in Spain, particularly a new rear wing design, showed visible flap movement and didn't perform as predicted in simulations, causing the team to mix old and new components in Austria.
Ricciardo admitted not all upgrades work out, calling some "downgrades," but stressed the importance of understanding why they failed. He expressed confidence in the current setup, believing it represents RB's best package. The correlation issues between on-track performance and wind tunnel data were a key factor in the Spanish struggles. RB will also evaluate removing the winglet on top of its Halo this weekend. This clarity should provide a much-needed boost as the midfield battle intensifies.
