Red Bull's Miami upgrade package did what Japan's didn't. Heavily revised sidepods, a new floor, and a fix to the steering system that had been muting Max Verstappen finally clawed back real pace — even if a P5 finish doesn't scream breakthrough. Verstappen called it "light at the end of the tunnel," and technical director Pierre Wache confirmed the parts delivered exactly as simulated.

Crucially, the RB22's excess weight has been halved from 12kg to 6kg above the 768kg floor. Montreal gets only minor tweaks — Red Bull is saving its powder for the European swing, with another weight reduction targeted for the Austrian Grand Prix that should put the car on the minimum limit.

McLaren and Ferrari brought their own Miami packages and still didn't pull away. If Red Bull hits weight at the Red Bull Ring, the championship picture gets a lot more interesting heading into the summer.
