RED BULL SIGNS EX-ASTON MARTIN F1 CHIEF TO REPLACE LAMBIASE

Red Bull has hired Tom McCullough as head of racing, effective start of the 2027 season. He'll replace Gianpiero Lambiase, Max Verstappen's longtime race engineer who's already committed to McLaren as chief racing officer. McCullough spent most of his F1 career at Aston Martin and its predecessors Force India and Racing Point, most recently in a performance technologies role after being moved off the F1 project in early 2025.

The signing is Red Bull's counter to a brutal managerial drain. Adrian Newey, Jonathan Wheatley, Rob Marshall, strategy chief Will Courtenay, and likely chief engineer Paul Monaghan (Cadillac-bound) have all left or are leaving. That's a generation of institutional knowledge walking out the door. McCullough brings decades of experience, but he'll inherit a team that's lost the people who made it dominant. Whether Red Bull can rebuild fast enough to stay ahead of McLaren and Ferrari is the defining question of the next two seasons.
