Charles Leclerc experimented with new Carbon Industrie brake discs during Barcelona practice, switching from Brembo to a configuration already favored by teammate Lewis Hamilton. The move aimed to improve Leclerc's braking feel, especially after his Monaco crash where he cited brake issues. Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur confirmed the experiment went well, and Leclerc is expected to keep the CI discs for the remainder of the Spanish Grand Prix weekend.
Ferrari also rolled out an eight-part upgrade package, with Leclerc finishing P4 in FP2, 0.373 seconds adrift. His long-run pace looked more promising, trailing only Mercedes. Leclerc felt the car made a step forward, though he believes rivals still hold an edge. Hamilton, who missed FP1, had limited running in FP2 and a front wing issue, preventing a clear assessment from his side. Ferrari remains cautiously optimistic about their new package heading into qualifying.
