Lewis Hamilton secured his best Ferrari qualifying result yet, taking P2 at the Spanish Grand Prix, just 0.064s off polesitter George Russell. This remarkable turnaround followed a challenging start, with Hamilton missing FP1 due to young driver obligations and struggling with pace in subsequent practice sessions. He was over a second off the pace in FP2 and nearly half a second behind teammate Charles Leclerc in FP3. The breakthrough came after Hamilton took an unprecedented step: he left the track between FP3 and qualifying for a "reset" in his motorhome. Whatever he did, it worked. He found a strong balance in Q1 and was "surprised" by the pace of the upgraded SF-26. With Leclerc starting P10 after a Q3 crash, Ferrari's hopes now ride on Hamilton. This P2 puts him in prime position to fight for his first win since July 2024.
