TOTO WOLFF POINTS TO MAX VERSTAPPEN FACTOR BEHIND RED BULL'S AUSTRIA PACE

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff credits Max Verstappen’s individual brilliance, more than Red Bull’s latest upgrades, for their strong pace at the Austrian Grand Prix. Verstappen, starting P5, finished a mere 1.6 seconds behind winner George Russell. While Red Bull introduced a significant upgrade package, Wolff insisted it was "Max Verstappen" who put them in contention. He highlighted Spielberg as one of Verstappen's strongest tracks, noting his five previous wins at the Red Bull Ring.

Despite the impressive drive, Wolff downplayed any immediate championship implications. He pointed out Verstappen currently sits seventh in the standings, 98 points adrift of leader Kimi Antonelli. However, Wolff acknowledged the ongoing "Verstappen factor," stressing his unique ability to "bring out everything that is in that car." This means Verstappen remains a wildcard, capable of disrupting the championship picture and taking points from the frontrunners as the season progresses.
