Valtteri Bottas spent his summer break grinding through 131 kilometers of Czech gravel on a bike, qualifying for the UCI Gravel World Championship with a fifth-place finish in his age group. While the rest of the grid recharged on yachts, the Cadillac driver tackled off-road racing alongside partner Tiffany Cromwell, an Olympic cyclist.
It's been a brutal first half for Cadillac in their debut season. The American outfit sits dead last in the constructors' standings with zero points, one behind Aston Martin. Bottas's best result was 13th in China; teammate Sergio Perez peaked at 14th twice. After a DNF in Hungary sent them into the break, Bottas posted the requisite we'll-come-back-stronger message.
The Finn took all of 2025 off as a Mercedes reserve before signing with Cadillac for their maiden campaign. Expected growing pains for an expansion team, but the American project needs points on the board when the second half kicks off in Zandvoort.
