Marvel comic writer Ethan Sacks called his decision to craft the Williams F1 comic storyline “the quickest yes” of his career. This first-of-its-kind F1 collaboration, announced ahead of the Miami Grand Prix, merges the fast-paced world of motorsport with classic superhero narratives. Sacks, an American writer who previously followed NASCAR, immediately saw the potential, choosing Iron Man for his tech prowess and Doctor Doom as the antagonist.
Sacks conducted extensive research, embedding traits of Williams driver Alex Albon and even Carlos Sainz, alongside Team Principal James Vowles, into the story. He highlighted the "team effort" required, comparing comic creation to an F1 garage assembly line. With editions rolling out since Miami, the goal is to introduce F1 to a broader, American-leaning comic audience, while also bringing comic fans into the F1 world. Sacks himself became an F1 convert through the process. This initiative spotlights F1’s growing entertainment footprint, reaching new fans far beyond the track.
