McLaren won't solve its handling crisis until 2027. Team principal Andrea Stella confirmed the MCL41 is the earliest the team can make fundamental changes to fix a car both drivers call impossibly difficult. Lando Norris describes it as "on a knife edge on every single corner" — forcing the car through each turn rather than finding natural balance. "You can't let the car do any work," he said after Singapore. "You have to force the front; you've got to force the rear." The intensity hit Oscar Piastri harder early season; his smooth style couldn't extract pace from a car demanding aggression over finesse. Stella acknowledged Piastri had to "abandon the fact that driving fast will not necessarily mean driving clean" to match Norris. Upgrades won't help — they add downforce but can't fix the underlying platform. McLaren manages a flawed car through 2026 while rivals refine easier machines.
