Valtteri Bottas cycled 200-plus miles from Malaysia to Singapore between last week's back-to-back races, dodging cobras, pythons, and a monitor lizard he had to bunny-hop with his bike. The Cadillac driver plotted the three-day route with local cyclists after partner Tiffany Cromwell floated the idea based on the tight Malaysia-Singapore double-header.
The wildest stretch came riding at night through the jungle. "Your mind starts to play games of what is out there," Bottas said. He split the journey into two century rides followed by a shorter Wednesday spin, calling it heat acclimatization for one of F1's most punishing races rather than a performance risk.
The adventure doubled as a mental reset after spinning out of the Malaysia race, another scoreless weekend for the only team still on zero points. Bottas said it cleared his head immediately. Whether it translates to pace around Marina Bay is the question Cadillac desperately needs answered.
